  • 1.5 lbs Flank Steak sliced thin against the grain
  • 1 cup Beef Broth low sodium
  • 0.5 cup Soy Sauce low sodium or Tamari
  • 0.33 cup Brown Sugar packed
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil toasted
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Ginger grated
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch mixed with 3 tbsp water
  • 2 heads Broccoli cut into florets
  • 2 cups White Rice steamed fluffy
  • 1 tsp Sesame Seeds toasted white

  • 1 Slow Cooker 6-quart or larger
  • 1 Steamer Basket For the broccoli

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice the flank steak against the grain into thin 2-inch strips.
  2. In the slow cooker, whisk together beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
Slow Cooking
  1. Add the beef to the sauce, cover, and cook on LOW for 4 hours.
  2. Whisk cornstarch and water, stir into the slow cooker, and cook on HIGH for 20 minutes until the sauce is thick and glossy.
Finishing
  1. Steam broccoli florets until bright green and tender-crisp. Fold into the beef.
  2. Serve over fluffy white rice and garnish with sesame seeds.

Notes

Slice beef against the grain for maximum tenderness.
Steam broccoli separately to keep it bright green and crisp.
