Ingredients

Prosciutto Wrapped Mozzarella Ingredients
  • 8 oz Fresh Mozzarella Low-moisture variety, cut into 1x3 inch blocks
  • 8-10 slices Prosciutto di Parma Thinly sliced
  • 1 cup Tomato Pomodoro Sauce Chunky and vibrant red
  • 1 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 10 leaves Fresh Basil Small leaves for garnish

Equipment

  • 1 12-inch Non-Stick Skillet Essential for getting a crispy sear without sticking.
  • 1 Tongs For gently flipping the delicate rolls.

Method

How to Make Crispy Prosciutto Wrapped Mozzarella
  1. Cut the fresh mozzarella into uniform rectangular blocks (approx 1x3 inches). Pat them thoroughly dry with paper towels to ensure a crispy sear.
  2. Lay a slice of prosciutto flat. Place a mozzarella block on one end. Fold the prosciutto over the ends of the cheese and roll tightly, ensuring no cheese is exposed.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Place rolls seam-side down. Cook for 1-2 minutes per side until the prosciutto is deep reddish-brown and crispy with visible golden rendered fat.
  4. Drizzle chunky pomodoro sauce on a white ceramic plate. Arrange three mozzarella blocks on top. Garnish each with a single fresh basil leaf.

Notes

Use low-moisture mozzarella to prevent the rolls from becoming watery.
Make sure the pan is hot before adding the prosciutto to get that charred edge effect.
