Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 10-inch (25cm) Angel Food Cake torn into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 packages (3.4 oz / 96g each) Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix
  • 1.5 cups (350ml) Cold Whole Milk
  • 1 cup (240ml) Sour Cream
  • 1 can (21 oz / 600g) Cherry Pie Filling with whole red cherries
  • 8 oz (225g) Whipped Topping thawed
  • 1/4 cup (30g) Toasted Slivered Almonds

Equipment

  • 1 9x13 inch Glass Baking Dish
  • 1 Mixing Bowl
  • 1 Whisk

Method

Assembly
  1. Tear the angel food cake into bite-sized cubes. Place half of the cubes into the bottom of a 9x13 inch glass baking dish.
  2. Spoon half of the cherry pie filling over the first layer of cake cubes.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix, cold milk, and sour cream until thick (about 2 minutes). Pour over the cake and cherries.
  4. Add the remaining angel food cake cubes over the pudding layer.
  5. Spread the whipped topping over the cake. Dollop the remaining cherry pie filling on top and swirl gently with a knife. Sprinkle with toasted slivered almonds.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld and the cake to soften.

Notes

Use torn cake instead of sliced for better absorption.
Ensure the pudding is completely whisked until no lumps remain.
