Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 cups All-purpose flour 375g
  • 2 tsp Active dry yeast 7g
  • 1 cup Warm water 240ml, 105-115°F
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt 60g, room temperature
  • 1 tsp Granulated sugar 4g
  • 1 tsp Sea salt 6g
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted butter 56g
  • 4 cloves Garlic Finely minced
  • 2 tbsp Fresh cilantro Finely chopped

Equipment

  • 1 Cast Iron Skillet Essential for high-heat charring.
  • 1 Rolling Pin

Method

Prepare the Dough
  1. Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and yogurt. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Cover and let rise in a warm spot for 1-1.5 hours until doubled in size.
Shape and Cook
  1. Divide dough into 8 balls. Roll each into a 1/4 inch thick oval shape.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook naan for 1 minute until large bubbles form and bottom is charred. Flip and cook for 30-45 seconds.
  3. Melt butter with minced garlic. Brush onto hot naan and sprinkle with fresh cilantro.

Notes

Ensure the skillet is smoking hot for the best char bubbles.
Keep cooked naan covered with a towel to maintain softness.
