  • 1/2 cup sour cream 120g
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise 60g
  • 2 tbsp fresh chives finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 1 tsp coarse black pepper cracked
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter 56g
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice plus zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Whisk buttermilk, sour cream, and mayonnaise in a bowl until smooth. Stir in lemon juice, Dijon, and salt. Chill for 10 minutes.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan. Add garlic, paprika, and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 45 seconds until golden. Stir in lemon zest and cool slightly.
  3. Stir fresh herbs into the chilled ranch. Pour the warm butter over the top and swirl 2-3 times with a silver spoon to create golden ribbons.

Notes

Use warm, not hot, butter to prevent the ranch from breaking.
Fresh herbs are essential for the vibrant green speckled look.
