  • 1 lb ground beef 450g, lean
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce 60ml
  • 2 tbsp chili garlic sauce 30ml
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil 15ml
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar 12g
  • 2 tbsp green onions sliced thin
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds toasted
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes optional

Equipment

  • 1 Large Skillet A wok also works well.
  • 1 Pasta Pot

Method

Cook Pasta
  1. Cook spaghetti in salted water until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water before draining.
Cook Beef and Sauce
  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef until textured crumbles form. Drain fat.
  2. Stir in garlic and ginger for 1 minute.
  3. Add soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, sesame oil, and brown sugar. Stir to coat the beef.
Final Toss
  1. Add spaghetti to the skillet and toss until glossy. Use pasta water to adjust consistency.

Notes

Use lean beef to avoid a greasy sauce.
Always reserve pasta water to create that signature glossy finish.
