  • 16 oz Elbow Macaroni 454g, cooked al dente
  • 1 lb Ground Beef 454g, lean
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion 150g, diced
  • 24 oz Chunky Tomato Sauce 680g
  • 2 cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese 226g, shredded
  • 1 tsp Dried Parsley Flakes 1g

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cook elbow macaroni in salted water until 2 minutes before al dente; drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the ground beef and diced onions in a skillet until beef is cooked and onions are translucent.
  3. Stir in the chunky tomato sauce and simmer for 5-8 minutes to thicken.
  4. Fold macaroni into the beef sauce and transfer to a rectangular glass baking dish.
  5. Top with cheddar cheese and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until bubbly with golden-brown spots. Sprinkle with parsley.

Notes

Use freshly grated cheese for a better melt.
Don't overcook the pasta initially as it softens during the baking process.
